Question / Issue:

Hello. Now that I’m using the Kibosh MT6000 router for my wifi connections, when I open and use my Mail app on my MacBook or desktop Mac, it doesn’t allow me to automatically load content of the email when I first view the email. All graphics are hidden, and it says “Your network preferences prevent content from loading privately.”

Then for each and every email that comes in, I have to manually click a box at the top that says “Load Content Directly”, and then having done that, the content appears in the email window. How do I set things with my Kibosh network so that the content loads automatically?

Answer / Solution:

This sounds like your Kibosh is blocking iCloud Private Relay (iPR) by Apple – and this can impact Safari and iCloud email client.

iPR will break all Family Safe Internet Filters unless it’s blocked – which Kibosh does (but you can turn it back on).

Solution(s):

How to turn iPR back on (per device) – but this removes all Internet privacy and protections.

A better path – try turning off iPR in your macOS System Settings:

  • navigate to System Settings > your Apple ID > iCloud.
  • Locate the Private Relay section under iCloud+, then toggle the switch to Off, then confirm by clicking Turn Off Private Relay.

Or you can open your your iCloud email in a browser.
