A general guide to using Range-Extenders with your Kibosh.
Note that all range-extenders & mesh kits will work with your Kibosh MT6000.
With one big caveat: in order to see and manage every device connected to your Kibosh, a range-extender must be in Bridge Mode. Or you will only see the Range Extender and not all the devices connected to it.
Q: What is Bridge Mode?
A: Bridge Mode = a bridge between two networks. A Range Extender in Bridge Mode will not perform any routing on it’s own – allowing the Kibosh to do it’s job.
Range Extenders: there are two Methods of installation:
- Each range-extender will broadcast it’s own WiFi SSID.
- Example: Kibosh (the main WiFi), Kibosh_2 (range-extender #1), Kibosh_3 (range-extender #2), etc.
- Each range-extender will use a Single WiFi SSID – in other words, a Mesh setup.
We all want Method #2 which is what we will focus on.
For a Mesh range-extender kit to work with your Kibosh it must support Bridge Mode.
Range-Extenders known to support Bridge Mode:
- TP-Link Deco in Access Point / Bridge Mode
- Orbi in Access Point / Bridge Mode
- Unifi in Access Point / Bridge Mode
