How to build your own Kibosh Router.

Using OpenWRT / DD-WRT

KiboshDNS powers the Kibosh Router’s Internet Security, and it can power yours too.

But you need a WiFi router with an enterprise grade firewall that currently OpenWRT / DD-WRT offers.

The Kibosh Router enforces KiboshDNS (which means that users on the LAN cannot change their local DNS and thereby access raw internet) using the firewall – the rules are below.

Step-by-Step:

  1. Flash your WiFi Router with OpenWRT or DD-WRT.
  2. Install KiboshDNS servers (list in your Portal)
  3. Enforce KiboshDNS Servers using the firewall rules below
  4. Request ‘block back-door ssl’ config files

Using Kibosh Firmware

If you have one of the following WiFi routers you can download the Kibosh Router’s latest firmware and turn y:

By putting Kibosh DNS Servers on your WiFi router your Internet will be immediately Family Safe.

Back-door / filter bypass technologies that will thwart ALL Family Safe services:

  1. Browsers like Chrome/Firefox/Brave have quietly introduced “Secure DNS” (DNS-over-HTTPS) that bypasses all DNS filters entirely.
  2. Browsers like Chrome/Firefox/Brave are quietly offering “Browse with Tor” built into their browser and will bypasses all DNS filters entirely.
  3. IPv6 on your WiFi router will bypass DNS filters entirely. Turn-Off IPv6 on your WiFi router.
  4. Local DNS override (user can change local DNS to bypass WiFi router DNS)
  5. Mobile devices that scan witch to Cellular Data will bypass all filtering.

NOTE: Kibosh Mobile Link VPN will block all the above filter bypass technologies. So, if you’re plan is to put KiboshDNS on your main WiFi Router, and then Mobile Link VPN on each mobile device – on the devices with Mobile Link VPN you will have total lockdown / control scenario (thus easing the worry about the main WiFi Gateway Router with KiboshDNS being bypassed.)

A Kibosh Router blocks 1- 4 at all times.

Step-by-Step:

  1. Flash your WiFi Router with OpenWRT or DD-WRT.
  2. Install KiboshDNS servers (list in your Portal)
  3. Enforce KiboshDNS Servers using the firewall rules below
  4. Request ‘block back-door ssl’ config files
