How to change the WiFi name (a.k.a., SSID) on your Kibosh.

  1. Log into your Kibosh Portal
  2. Go to Advanced > Settings > WiFi Settings
    • 2.4Ghz — this is the primary WiFi with long range
      • Enter Name & Password
        • NOTE: do not use apostrophe
    • 5Ghz — this is for high bandwidth applications (like HD TV), but with a short range
      • Enter Name & Password
        • NOTE: do not use apostrophe
    • Save Changes

TIPS:

  • Disable 5Ghz unless you know you need it:
    • A) it’s a strong WiFi signal that you might not want to be exposed to (in addition to 2.4g).
    • B) it’s another WiFi that you will need to manage
    • C) it’s radius of coverage is much smaller than 2.4g (so you’ll have to switch between 2.4 / 5 often).
    • D) opinion: I’ve never seen any evidence 5g is faster than 2.4g, from general daily use perspective.
  • Disable MAC Randomization

TIPS:

  • Disable 5Ghz unless you know you need it:
    • First – it’s a strong WiFi signal that you might not want to be exposed to (in addition to 2.4g).
    • Second – it’s another WiFi that you will need to maintain join / re-join, etc.
    • Third – it’s range is much smaller than 2.4g (so you’ll have to switch between 2.4 / 5 often).
    • Fourth – I’ve never seen any evidence, nor has my experience proved to me it’s faster than 2.4
  • Disable MAC Randomization
