When you first install a Kibosh you’ll probably see right away, or at some point regardless, a mystery device with a * name.
Once you know what that device is you should Tag it right away with a friendly name.
Unfortunately there is no single, easy way to identify every device. So we must use multiple methods – one of them will always work.
Connected Devices FYI:
- All Internet capable devices connected to your WiFi / LAN will show up in your Portal > Connected Devices
- All Devices will have a unique MAC ID
- All Devices will have a unique Device IP
- Most Devices will have a unique Device Name
Ways to identify a Device – In Order:
- Via the Device Name
- Via the Device IP
- Usually this works: match the Device IP in your Portal, to the IPv4 address on the device.
- Via the MAC ID
- Match the MAC ID in your Portal to the MAC ID on the device.
- Via the Internet History Logs
- Forever-block the Internet
- Now sit back and let’s see if anyone complains or stops working.
How to identify a * device:
“Again, as it has been given, ‘Show me your faith by your works,’ in your relationships, in your conversation, in your activity with your neighbor.”
